Food Chamber of Slovakia (PKS) is a voluntary association of legal entities, established foods and companies operating in Slovakia with the possibility of cooperation in the defending he common interests of the food industry.  The Food Chamber of Slovakia is the only representative of Slovakia in the roof European organization of the food and beverage industry FoodDrink Europe.

The Food Chamber of Slovakia provides for its members:

• regular daily monitoring of relevant articles
• regular overview of prepared and approved legislation and documents important for the food industry at the level of the Slovak Republic and the EU
• regular overview of current events in the Food Chamber of Slovakia
• free seminars on new legislation
• contact with state authorities regarding the interpretation of legislation

The PKS was founded in September 2002 in Bratislava. Since its inception, it has developed into the largest and most representative organization representing the interests of food companies in Slovakia. PKS brings together 50 subjects, of which 8 are collective members. The share of food companies associated in the PKS in the total turnover of the food industry in Slovakia is higher than 60%.

The PKS is the voice of food companies, food distributors, employers and exporters, contributing to the development of legislation, supporting industry competitiveness, consumer protection, the environment, product quality, food security and sustainable development. It also focuses on educating consumers about balanced nutrition, healthy lifestyle, and increasing physical activity.

An important role for the PKS is the proper availability of European information to the business and consumer public. Since mid-2004, the PKS has been a member of the European confederation of food and beverage producers – FoodDrink Europe (FDE). Since January 1, 2016, PKS is the only representative of the food industry in the FDE for the Slovak Republic.

The PKS fulfils its mission and objectives, notably by commenting on proposals for generally binding legislation at all stages of the legislative process, preparing opinions on current food industry issues, publishing press releases on current food industry issues, communicating with the media, cooperating with the membership and working with home, foreign and international professional associations.

The PKS represents the interests of its members in the following organizations and working groups:

• Food Council at the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of the Slovak Republic
• The National Platform for Prevention of Food Wasting

The Food Chamber of Slovakia is, together with the Slovak Alliance of Modern Trade, a founding member of the Supply Chain Initiative in Slovakia.
